FACS on TV
There are an extraordinary number of programs
on television today based on the FACS content areas. Topics ranging from all
things food to fashion, interior design, relationships, child rearing and
managing financial resources. Why not take advantage of both the popularity of
these programs and the value of the information presented in them to enhance
your classroom instruction? Of course, not all of the information presented in
these programs is useful and reliable, but many can help you provide depth,
demonstration and application, and interesting background and color to the
topics you present in your classes.
The following is a list of current programs that can be useful in the FACS classroom, grouped by content area application. Click on the link associated with each program to access broadcast dates and times as well as some general information about the show’s content. Many of the programs listed are part of the Cable in the Classroom educational initiative, which is another gold mine of free teacher resources.
