Home Ecology
The FACS of Living Green

In my original manuscript I recommended a novel called My Summer on Earth by Tom Lombardi as a supplement to Home Ecology.  I made that recommendation based on descriptions and reviews about the novel prior to its release on May 6.  As soon as the novel became available, I purchased it and began to read it.  I was deeply disturbed by the inappropriate language used extensively throughout the novel.  I have removed that novel from the Green Reading list and strongly urge you to refrain from using it in your classroom.  I deeply apologize for this error in judgment.

Managing a home with respect for the environment is not a new concept to FACS.  Home Economics founder, Ellen S. Richards pioneered the concept a century ago.  This comprehensive curriculum will enable teachers to incorporate eco-friendly living into every FACS content area.  We can and must teach our students to understand and appreciate the impact of a sustainable lifestyle.  Home Ecology, the FACS of Living Green will make it easy for your to teach this timely and important subject.
