Description   This deceptively simple project can be used to teach several important concepts.  The project directions guides students through the basic steps of measuring and cutting strips of paper, shaping the paper beads and assembling the necklace.  The colors chosen represent the six basic needs of a child--physical, intellectual, social, character, trust, and love and discipline.  When making the necklace with preschoolers, the necklace can be used to teach color identification and counting.
